Brand Identity
The story behind the Bengaluru Runners mark — its roots, its meaning, and how to use it.
A Symbol for Every Runner in Bengaluru.
An identity that unites the city's running community — across clubs, languages, and neighbourhoods.
The Bengaluru Runners logo is designed as a unifying symbol for the city's diverse running community. As an umbrella collective that brings together all the runners, multiple running clubs, the identity reflects inclusivity, shared purpose, and a deep connection to the city it calls home.
A custom typographic mark that merges "B" for Bengaluru and "R" for Runners into a single cohesive form, drawing from both English and Kannada letterforms in a seamless bilingual construction.
The silhouette of Vidhana Soudha — one of Bengaluru's most iconic landmarks — is integrated into the logo, anchoring the identity firmly within the city and its civic heritage.
The logo is subtly italicised, creating a forward-leaning form that conveys momentum. Even in stillness, the structure carries a sense of energy and direction — the essence of running.
The primary color is derived from the red of the Karnataka flag — representing energy, passion, strength, resilience, and a deep regional identity and pride.
Rooted in Language.
Expressed Through Form.
the markB + R unifiedAt the heart of the logo is a custom crafted typographic form that merges the letters "B" for Bengaluru and "R" for Runners into a single cohesive mark.
These forms subtly echo the rotated Kannada characters ಬ (ba) and ರ (ra), creating a natural visual connection between English and Kannada — the two languages at the heart of Bengaluru's identity.
The design draws from the Kannada syllable ಬೆಂ (bem). When rotated, this element is abstracted to resemble the silhouette of a runner in motion — transforming a linguistic cue into a dynamic and expressive visual.
Together, these layers reflect Bengaluru's bilingual identity while embodying movement, inclusivity, and the spirit of a city that runs as one.
"The silhouette of Vidhana Soudha is woven into the logo — not as decoration, but as a declaration. These runners are not merely passing through Bengaluru. They belong to it."

What Bengaluru Runners Stands For.
Bringing together diverse group of runners under a shared identity — one city, one community, one purpose.
Across languages, cultures, and experience levels. Bengaluru Runners welcomes every pace and every background.
Not just physical movement, but progress — personal growth, community development, and a city moving forward together.
A genuine pride in the city of Bengaluru — its culture, its heritage, its people, and its enduring spirit.
A Mark Shaped by Many.
A logo for a community should emerge from one. This one did — shaped through conversation, critique, and collective direction across several rounds of iteration. What follows is a record of the people who made it.
A former technology consultant with over 25 years of experience, now farming and designing in equal measure. A recent member of Bengaluru's running community himself, Nikhil brought both the craft and an authentic connection to the brief — working not as an outsider commissioned to design a logo, but as a community member who wanted to give something back.
The following members of the Bengaluru Runners community offered perspectives, feedback, and direction that materially shaped the final mark.
This mark also carries the fingerprints of many others — members of the Bengaluru Runners community who shared reactions, asked the right questions, and pushed the work forward in ways both seen and unseen. They may not all be named here, but the logo is no less theirs for it.
